Within HMT our nurses focus on clinical excellence in everything they do.
As part of the HMT nursing team, you will contribute to the managing a group of patients or residents across our hospitals and/or care homes. Within our hospitals you will provide clinical skills which include communicating with patients, assessing their immediate and future care needs, and providing specialist clinical activities to aid their recovery and enhance their well-being right through to hospital discharge. This might include care of their surgical site, medicine management, fluid balance and providing personal care, such as bathing. The wide range of care provided by HMT means that you could be exposed to a diverse range of nursing specialisms: orthopaedics, paediatrics, oncology, bariatics, cardiac to name but a few. Whether working in a care home, on a ward or in Outpatients, your role will be to ensure patients have a personal, caring, positive experience. As well as excellent practical nursing skills, you will need to display patience, compassion and problem solving skills in providing expert care
There really is nowhere better to develop your nursing career than HMT. We invest heavily in your training, and provide support on a continual basis to help you diversify your skills under expert clinical supervision and mentoring. In return for this, you will be expected to be hungry to learn and keen to share knowledge with your colleagues. Because of the wide range of clinical procedures and specialisms provided in our care homes and hospitals, no one day is likely to be the same. This means that you never stop learning, and it makes HMT an exciting, dynamic and creative organisation to work within. Our care homes and hospitals are delivering increasingly complex and acute care, and this requires highly skilled and consistent teams.
As a nurse at HMT, you will see that putting patients first and maintaining the highest clinical governance standards are our top priority. Our nurses understand that what they do at work makes a real positive difference, so they take pride in the highest clinical standards.
