Healthcare professionals and volunteers across the county are eligible for a series of awards as nominations for the first Lincolnshire’s Health Awards open today (24st August).
The awards, created by Lincolnshire Media, have been set up to recognise and reward those supporting and working in the healthcare sector across Lincolnshire.
St Hugh’s Hospital is sponsoring the Volunteer of the Year category and hopes to encourage people to nominate those dedicated members of the public who give their time to support patients, families and healthcare professionals.
Ashley Brown, Director at HMT St Hugh’s, said: “Lincolnshire’s Health Awards are a great opportunity to celebrate all of the extraordinary work being done by individuals and teams within the healthcare sector in Lincolnshire.
“We’re sponsoring the Volunteer of the Year category because we want to show our appreciation to those who give their time to support people when they need it the most, within a range of healthcare settings.”
“From ‘friends of’ groups who organise community activities from the local drop-in centre to those who provide information at the reception desk in hospital, volunteers provide much-needed additional support to both patients and healthcare providers.”
Nominations and further details about how to submit an entry can be found online at www.lincolnshirelive.co.uk/healthawards. The closing date for nominations is Monday 2nd October 2017.
Finalists and sponsors will attend the award ceremony on Tuesday 14th November at The Bentley Hotel, Lincoln, where the winners will be announced.
Ashley concluded: “We work alongside a number of voluntary organisations and I’m always in awe of people who give up their time for the benefit of others. I’d urge anyone who has been supported by a volunteer in a healthcare setting to submit a nomination.”
