Supporting the JLT Condor cycling team is something which HMT have done for a number of years now and something we’re immensely proud of.
We provide riders with pre-season medicals and any other medical support they need should an injury or concern ever arise.
Our talented consultants are on hand to provide riders with the highest level of care to ensure that injuries are dealt with quickly and efficiently, reducing recovery times and getting the riders back on their bikes as soon as possible.
The team have had an excellent start to the 2017 seasons, with a number of impressive individual and team races already under their belt. This has ensured that JLT Condor are into the lead of the Spring Cup Series, which is one of the qualifying events for the upcoming Tour of Britain.
Last weekend, on Easter Saturday, the team headed to Chorley for the Grand Prix and returned home with two podium spots, ensuring that Saturday’s thrilling HSBC UK | Spring Cup Series race was one to remember.
Taking the top spot was JLT Condor rider Ian Bibby who took home the title for this event for the second time in his career. Teammate Ed Laverack took the third place on the podium with ONEPro Cycling rider Kamil Gradek coming in between the two JLT riders.
The ride was thrilling from start to finish, ten-riders formed a group early into the race, with JLT Condor rider Tom Moses establishing a good lead over the peloton.
Although it wasn’t all plain sailing as the climbs took their toll on a number of riders and their lead soon shrunk to 90 seconds. This allowed attacks from Tom Moses and One Pro Cycling’s Kamil Gradek who tore the group apart over the second part of the race making for a thrilling yet nail-biting race.
With cohesion lost by the lead group, Ian Bibby and Steven Lampier from JLT Condor took their chance to ride across to the leaders and a new group formed with twelve riders at the head of the race.
Ian Bibby saw his opportunity to attack the field, he forced the pace on the final climb and his move was chased by two other riders. Into the final 5km Bibby continued to extend his lead over the chasers, he crossed the line over one minute ahead of a four-man chase group, also containing teammate Ed Laverack.
Race winner, Ian Bibby said; “It was a lot windier than normal, probably the hardest one we’ve done by a long way. It was flat out from the word go and we never stopped.”
At the end of the day, JLT Condor lead the team standings by 13 points over BikeChannel Canyon putting them in a fantastic position for the famous Tour of Britain.
There is only one round left of the series which is the Lincoln Grand Prix which is taking place on May 14th, 2017.
We’d like to congratulate all riders on their performance over the weekend at Chorley and give special congratulations to Ian Bibby and Ed Laverack.
We are excited to announce we will be running a hugely exciting competition in partnership with the Lincoln GP to celebrate our support of the cycling event.
Keep an eye on our social channels for competition details.
