Nominations Now Open for Sancta Maria’s Charitable Causes

HMT Sancta Maria is calling on the people of Swansea Bay to nominate local charities causes for a cash donation from the hospital’s community fund.

Three of the charities or causes nominated on social media during the month of June using the hashtag #SanctaSupportingSwansea will receive a share of £1,000.

The nominations can be across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram during the month of June. Tag Sancta Maria and the charity you wish to nominate, tell us why you’re nominating them but be sure to use the hashtag #SanctaSupportingSwansea to be eligible. Nominations will close one week before the JCP Half Marathon on June 25th. Three will be chosen at random and will be revealed at the JCP Swansea Half Marathon. Supporters and runners will be invited to vote for their top cause using tokens, which will be distributed on the day. The fund will be split between the three causes, according to the votes on the day

Hospital Director Stuart Hammond comments: “There’s some fantastic work carried out in our community and the team here is really looking forward to supporting a local cause with a financial contribution to hopefully ease some of the pressure and support people who are already doing an amazing job.

‘We’ve already funded a number of medical research programmes, and also funded the Musical Memories choir in West Cross, for people living with dementia and those who care for them. We also recently announced we will also be funding two Admiral nurses roles for three years, the nurses will provide a community-based nursing service for those living with dementia in Swansea Bay.

“As a not-for-profit hospital, our surplus is invested back into improving facilities for patients and local causes such as these. This is our way of showing our commitment to our local community and support for those in need. We look forward to supporting three new causes this summer, chosen by our community, for our community.”
