Promoting Healthy Living
Promoting health and wellbeing is as important to us as funding medical research. Both are components of our contribution towards a healthier future for the nation. Through our funding of grass routes cycle coaching, promotion of community cycling rides and the support of the Swansea Half Marathon we aim to make health and activity accessible to all ages in abilities around the communities in which we operate. Partly because of its suitability for people of such wide age and ability, Cycling is the fastest growing sport in the UK. In particular, newcomers to exercise looking for a low impact and social introduction to maintaining a healthy lifestyle are turning to two wheels in ever greater numbers.
Since 2007 we have been the healthcare partner of the Professional Cycling Team that is today known as JLT Condor. The team is a formidable band of world class athletes that includes Olympic Gold Medallist Ed Clancy in its line up. The squad is managed by John Herety.
Since 2015 we have also proudly run our very own HMT Academy. Our programme supports talented junior cyclists at home in the British Cycling National Junior Series as well as further afield on forays into Europe.
Our participation through inspiration programme will see Professional athletes supported by The Healthcare Management Trust leading community events and mentoring individuals towards their health and fitness goals.
