Ride with the Pros – May 2016 -POSTPONED

Saturday 21st May 2016

Ride with the Pros has been POSTPONED – please return to the website soon for an update.

HMT aim to encourage the local community to pick up a bicycle and start cycling – as we believe it is one of the best ways to embrace physical activity. Not only is a great mode of transport, but cycling offers a fantastic way to boost your health and fitness levels.

We regularly support a number of cycling events and clubs, with the hope of encouraging as many people as possible to embrace the great outdoors with a spot of cycling.

You will have another chance to cycle alongside professional riders, and can even have a chat with the cyclists once the ride is over. The event is free to enter, but you will need a roadworthy bike and a suitable helmet. Participants must also be capable of cycling 40km. What’s wonderful about Ride with the Pros is that it’s open to all ages and abilities, so you can bring the whole family along for a fun and fit day out in the Swansea air.

HMT has a long-standing history supporting a number of cycling clubs, including Podium Ambition and JLT Condor. We have also developed the British junior cycling club HMT Cycling Team, which aims to develop riders potential so they can reach their potential – and we’re thrilled to announce HMT Academy’s Sam Henning will join the ride on 21st May. HMT Sancta Maria also supports the Swansea based Gower Riders, providing the youth cycle coaching team with cycling equipment, when required.

Tony Barrett, the Chief Executive of the Healthcare Management Trust (HMT), commented: “Cycling has been a great sport for us to support over recent years, and Ride with the Pros is a great example as to why. I can’t think of another sport where you can participate alongside some of the best cyclists in the world, whatever your fitness ability, and then return back to the cafe, where you can have a chat over a cup of tea. HMT has a long-term strategy to support health in the community, and we are seeing more people climb on a bike to get fit, recover from injury or just have fun.”

Gower Riders Cycling Club will kindly plot the Ride with the Pros route. Members of the club will also be on-hand throughout the ride to promote additional rides organised by the club – which is the perfect way to embrace cycling if you have enjoyed Ride with the Pros. You can therefore attend local rides with Gower Riders, which offers rides for all abilities.
