Ride with the Pros – May 2016 – POSTPONED

Saturday 14th May 2016

The Healthcare Management Trust (HMT) strive to boost health and fitness in the communities our hospitals operating. It is for this reason why HMT St Hugh’s Hospital and HMT Sancta Maria regularly support a number of superb sporting events, proving to the public that exercise doesn’t have to be boring.

Ride with the Pros has been POSTPONED Please return to the website soon for an update.

It also won’t cost you a penny to participate, as Ride with the Pros is free to enter. The event is open to all ages and abilities, you just need to be capable of cycling 40km, as well as own a roadworthy bike and a suitable helmet.

Ride with the Pros allows the community a unique opportunity to cycle alongside professional cyclists, including HMT Academy’s Rob Gray and Ollie Peckover. We have a long-standing history supporting various clubs, including JLT Condor and Podium Ambition. HMT has also developed HMT Cycling Team that supports British junior cyclists, providing nutritional and medical support to aid their cycling performance. In addition, HMT strives to support NEL Go-Ride, a Grimsby-based youth cycle coaching club, at every opportunity, providing the necessary equipment so they continue to provide fun cycle coaching for local children and young people.

Tony Barrett, the Chief Executive of the Healthcare Management Trust (HMT), recently commented: “Cycling has been a great sport for us to support over recent years, and Ride with the Pros is a great example as to why. I can’t think of another sport where you can participate alongside some of the best cyclists in the world, whatever your fitness ability, and then return back to the cafe, where you can have a chat over a cup of tea. HMT has a long-term strategy to support health in the community, and we are seeing more people climb on a bike to get fit, recover from injury or just have fun.”

NEL Lindsey Go-Ride has kindly plot the Ride with the Pros routes. Club members will also be available throughout the ride to inform participants of additional rides organised by the club – which is the perfect way to embrace cycling bug if they’ve enjoyed Ride with the Pros. You can therefore attend local rides with NEL Lindsey Go-ride, which offers rides for all abilities.

The 25 mile ride starting at St Hugh’s Hospital at Grimsby, heading out via East Ravendale and Wold Newton, making its way back to Grimsby via North Thoresby, Tetney and Humberston.

You don’t have to be a skilled cyclist to participate in the cycling event, as different abilities will be split into different groups.
