St Hugh’s is among the sponsors proudly supporting the third annual Lincolnshire Heart of the Community Awards.
Aimed at recognising people who go the extra mile for their community, the awards feature nine different categories including the Community Champion Award, which St Hugh’s is sponsoring for the second time.
Ashley Brown, Director at HMT St Hugh’s, said: “The Heart of Lincolnshire Community Awards is a great opportunity to celebrate all of the extraordinary work being done by individuals across the county, often on a voluntary basis and with little or no support.
“As a not-for-profit organisation we’ve donated £1.1m to research and community projects focusing on dementia and promoting healthy lifestyles in Lincolnshire. We understand the importance of championing those who give their time to drive initiatives and support activities in their local neighbourhoods.”
Community projects at St Hugh’s include working alongside NEL Lindsey Go-Ride to engage with young cyclists as they develop within the sport, and the HMT Academy with JLT Condor which provides training to junior athletes who have shown potential.
St Hugh’s also supports Friendship at Home, a befriending service aimed at people over 60 which offers a range of activities to encourage older people to get together and try new things or keep up with their hobbies while making new friends.
Ashley concluded: “As a judge I’m looking forward to reading all of the nominations and hearing about more of the amazing people doing fantastic things across the county.”
People can nominate via the Lincolnshire Echo website www.lincolnshirelive.co.uk. The deadline for entries is Saturday 19th August 2017.
The winners will be announced during a ceremony at The Showroom on Tritton Road in Lincoln on Tuesday 12th September.
